About Me

My name is Sarah, though I also answer to Sai, Gingell, or Skank (thanks Dad). I’m a 25 year old forensic psychology graduate who has recently rejoined the ranks of the employed.

I started this blog in February 2009 in the hope of motivating myself to run more and give the people that sponsor me to run races something to read. I explain more in my first post. At the time I lived with fellow bloggers Claire and Scribs, so we can blame them for getting me into this! I don’t profess to know a whole lot about running but I’ll talk about my experiences and if any readers want to know more then please comment and I’ll do my best to find out.

I started running in April 2007. I had always liked the idea of running but my asthma, and lack of knowledge about my asthma, had always prevented me from sticking at it. I couldn’t run for more than 60 seconds at a time and it was weeks before my run-walk intervals got me to 1km and 17 months before I did my first 5k road race. It was a slow process but I loved to run and couldn’t imagine my life without it. My goal was to run at least one road race each year, raising money for charity each time I increase the distance of the race. I’ve decided that I’d like to finish a marathon before I turn 30.

In October 2009 I had to stop running due to pain in my feet that was only given a diagnosis in July 2010. I diverted my energy into my other sport – archery – and decided to take an increased interest in wheelchair basketball, a sport my boyfriend had got me in to earlier in 2009. On the 3rd May 2010 I shot my last archery competition, finally having to admit the the pain of standing and walking outweighed the fun of shooting. Wheelchair basketball is now my only sport. After months of indecision I finally signed with Coventry for the 2010-2011 season.

Credit for the name of this blog has to go to Claire. In hidsight it’s perfectly obvious – what better reason to run but as training for the innevitable zombie uprising? Don’t be an easy meal!

  1. [...] the slightly daft side of me remembered the blog of a young lady named Sarah called Running From Zombies (who due to an as yet undiagnosed problem with her feet, has sadly had to give up running for now). [...]
