Behind the Scenes

Ally during a basketball game for West Brom
Ally Hope
Sports Psychologist, Sports Massage Therapist, Coach
I’ve known Al for over 3 years and I’ve been training with him on and off for a little over 2. Former pro rugby player in Italy and then Coach for Old Salts RFC, he’s now focusing on racing. His blog – Wheels on Fire – documents his aspirations for London2012. Al was a big influence back in 2007 when my whole view on health and fitness changed, and I think he probably had a role in my decision to start (or at least keep up) running…and, you know, he’s quite a good boyfriend too :-)
Best For: Training sessions in Sutton Park during the summer, 1-on-1 basketball, letting me live with him.

Claire showing off her mad skills at archery
Claire Baines
Ex-Gym Buddy, Motivator, Token Ginger
I lived with Claire for almost 3 years but it was only in January of 2009 that we decided to become gym buddies. Knowing I was going to the gym with someone meant I had to get up ridiculously early in the mornings! When Claire bought a bike a few months later she encouraged me to use mine more and we did some great long rides down the canal tow-path. Her new found appreciation for exercise makes me proud :-)
Best For: Cycle rides down the canal path, keeping me company in the gym, living with.

Scribs...well...with an Easter Egg on his head. Don't ask.
Jonathan “Scribs” Harrington
Motivator, Blogger, Cannon Fodder for the Zombie Apocalypse
Scribs moved in with Claire and I in September of 2008. He turned up to look around the spare room with his suitcase and had the kettle on and his feet up within 3 minutes of stepping through the door…and that’s pretty much where he stayed. To say that Scribs is averse to exercise is like saying you or I are averse to getting shot in the face, though I’m slowly tried to convert him to an active lifestyle (ie. one outside of his dressing gown) which resulted in success in September when he ran the Bupa Great Capital Run. Scribs was the first (and only) person I knew to maintain a blog about nothing…which went some way in to convincing me I could start this one.
Best For: Making me feel better about my life, keeping me entertained.

Great read!
…I have to admit that I’m rather adverse to excersize too… But I would rather run a mile then get shot in the face :)
